How to play? Learning to play chess is actually very simple, but winning against an opponent isn’t quite as easy, as it requires thinking through each move, considering your move several moves ahead. Unfortunately, this can’t be taught, but the rules of the game are simple: a pawn moves forward to an adjacent square, a rook moves horizontally and vertically, a bishop moves diagonally, a knight moves in an L-shape, a queen moves both horizontally and diagonally, and the king can move in any direction, but only forward. Each piece may encounter an opponent’s piece, which can be captured or bypassed if the rules allow. Only a pawn can capture a piece adjacent to it by moving diagonally past the piece being captured. By manipulating these pieces, you must “drive” the king into a situation where it will be first checked and then checkmated, which means the king is in danger and has no way to escape. The game offers two modes: single-player and two-player, meaning playing against a real opponent and simple mouse controls.
